Governor Nwifuru Employs 1,936 Teachers to Strengthen Education in Ebonyi

Date:

In a major step toward improving education standards, Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has approved the employment of 1,936 new teachers for primary and secondary schools across Ebonyi State.

Out of the total, 1,000 teachers have been deployed to senior secondary schools under the Ebonyi State Secondary Education Board (SEB), while 936 were assigned to the Universal Basic Education Board (UBEB) for primary and junior secondary schools.

This move aligns with the Governor’s commitment to quality education as captured in the People’s Charter of Needs and follows his earlier restructuring of the Ministry of Education into two departments — one for basic education and another for tertiary education.

Speaking on the development, Chief Mrs. Lilian Nwankwo, Chairman of SEB, said the Board will monitor and inspect the new teachers to ensure accountability and effective service delivery.

Governor Nwifuru emphasized that the newly recruited teachers will undergo continuous training and retraining to meet modern teaching standards.

This strategic employment is expected to reduce teacher shortages, improve learning outcomes, and promote human capital development across the state.
