NUC Approves 20 New Courses for Ebonyi ICT Varsity Ahead of 2025/2026 Intake

The Ebonyi State University of ICT, Science and Technology, Oferekpe, has announced the launch of 20 new academic programmes ahead of the 2025/2026 academic session.

The Vice Chancellor, Engr. Prof. Ernest Ituma Egba, disclosed this development after receiving the National Universities Commission (NUC) approval letter signed by the Acting Director of Academic, Abubakar M. Girei.

Prof. Egba expressed gratitude to Ebonyi State Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for his financial and moral support, stressing that the institution is well-prepared with qualified staff, teaching facilities, and infrastructure to sustain the newly approved courses.

The 20 NUC-approved courses include:

  • B.Sc. Computer Science
  • B.Sc. Data Sciences
  • B.Sc. Software Engineering
  • B.Sc. Cyber Security
  • B.Sc. Information and Communication Technology
  • B.Sc. Information Technology
  • B.Sc. Information Systems
  • B.Sc. Human Nutrition and Dietetics
  • B.Eng. Civil Engineering
  • HIM Health Information Management
  • B.Eng. Electrical & Electronic Engineering
  • B.Sc. Mass Communication
  • B.Sc. Accounting
  • B.Sc. Economics
  • B.Sc. Entrepreneurship
  • B.Sc. Architecture
  • B.Sc. Building
  • B.Sc. Surveying and Geoinformatics
  • B.Sc. Quantity Surveying

The Acting Registrar, Dr. Chukwu Eze-Obia, encouraged candidates who scored 150 and above in JAMB 2025 to apply by selecting the university as their first choice on JAMB CAPS.

Highlighting the school’s vision, Prof. Egba said:

“The Ebonyi State University of ICT, Science and Technology is committed to providing world-class education in ICT, science, and technology to produce highly skilled graduates who can compete globally in the digital economy.”

He also noted that the Ebonyi State Government has invested heavily in campus infrastructure, including faculty buildings, a university library, senate building, hostels, and staff quarters at Oferekpe, Agbaja in Izzi LGA.

The Ebonyi ICT University was officially recognized by the NUC on January 23, 2025, becoming the 66th state university in Nigeria and the 278th in the national university system. Its mission is to be a leading ICT-driven institution for research, innovation, and sustainable development.
