A fresh crisis has broken out in Francis Frontiers (F-F), a political support group for Governor Francis Nwifuru, as founding members, local government coordinators, and members of the state executive committee have passed a vote of no confidence on the leadership, describing it as a “cartel.”
In a statement jointly signed by Hon. Victor Aleke, Barr. Ituma Chinedu, and others, the aggrieved members alleged that the group had been hijacked by a few individuals who sidelined stakeholders and exploited the governor’s name for fraudulent dealings.
The members, however, reaffirmed their loyalty to Governor Nwifuru and his 2027 ambition but listed major grievances fueling their action. Among them were:
- Unilateral appointments: Over 100 names were allegedly announced without consultation.
- Illegal sackings: Coordinators in Ishielu, Onicha, Ohaozara, and Ohaukwu LGAs were reportedly removed without due process.
- Exclusion of leaders: APC stakeholders and other influential voices were sidelined in decision-making.
- Alleged fraud: Donations and favours were said to have been solicited in the governor’s name.
The group also expressed concern that since F-F was launched on March 10, 2025, no proper meetings had been held. They noted that key decisions were replaced with “WhatsApp appointments,” which they described as a distortion of the group’s founding vision.
The development has deepened political tension within the ranks of Francis Frontiers, raising questions about internal cohesion and the capacity of support groups to maintain credibility ahead of the 2027 elections.
