In response to the growing problem of dilapidated infrastructure in public institutions, Distinguished Senator Prof. Anthony Okorie Ani has begun a community-focused intervention in Ebonyi South Senatorial District.
The Senator, through a team of engineers, carried out a fact-finding and assessment tour of key schools and health facilities across Afikpo North and Afikpo South Local Government Areas.
At the Community Secondary School, Amasiri (Afikpo North), founded in 1998, the team observed crumbling structures, insecure surroundings, poor conveniences, and inadequate staff offices.
The tour continued at the Primary Health Centre, Amasiri, where engineers and a Medico TV crew documented the weak state of the facility. The Officer-in-Charge expressed concern over the lack of essential equipment and infrastructure needed for effective healthcare delivery.
A similar situation was discovered at the Government Secondary School, Owutu Edda (Afikpo South). Staff and students lamented collapsed roofs and dysfunctional buildings, calling for urgent rehabilitation. The President of the Old Boys Association recalled the school’s glorious past and noted that Senator Ani himself is an alumnus of the institution.
Community members across the visited areas commended Senator Ani for prioritizing education and healthcare, describing them as the backbone of development. Many expressed optimism that his intervention would restore hope and improve living standards in Ebonyi South.
