The Ebonyi State Government has announced plans to recover all accrued Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) dividends due to the state from 1999 to date.
Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Bar. Ikeuwa Omebe, disclosed this during a press briefing after the State Executive Council (Exco) meeting in Abakaliki.
Quoting the briefing, Omebe said:
“Ebonyi State, as one of the sub-nationals in Nigeria, is a shareholder in Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG), hence is entitled to the federation’s NLNG dividend and other unremitted oil revenue. It is therefore imperative to review, reconcile and recover the amount due to Ebonyi State from January 1999 to date.”
To achieve this, Exco approved TIARAS White Consult Limited to carry out the review, reconciliation, and recovery process, with a 15% consultancy fee to be paid from the recovered funds.
Omebe stressed that the move reflects the government’s commitment to recovering all outstanding funds and improving revenue generation for development across Ebonyi State.
