Ezeh Emmanuel Ezeh, popularly known as Immaculate, has declined his appointment as a member of the newly inaugurated Ebonyi State Economic Team.
The Economic Team, set up by Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, is designed to drive the state’s industrialization and long-term economic growth. It brings together prominent technocrats and professionals, including Prof. Barth Nnaji, Dr. Joe Abah, Dr. Mark Abani, and Chief Mike Chukwu.

Ezeh, who was listed among the appointees, cited the timing of the team’s constitution—two years into the Governor’s administration—and political considerations as reasons for turning down the offer.
His decision has generated reactions across political and governance circles. While some argue that his refusal reflects partisan differences, others maintain that the timing of the initiative is a strategic move by the state government to consolidate achievements before focusing on long-term reforms.
Government officials have stressed that the team remains intact and will begin work as planned. According to them, the inclusion of respected figures from diverse backgrounds underscores the administration’s effort to foster unity and inclusiveness in driving Ebonyi’s economic transformation agenda.
Governor Nwifuru inaugurated the Economic Team last week, stating that its mandate is to design policies and frameworks that will outlive his administration and position Ebonyi as an industrial hub in the Southeast.
The Economic Team is expected to begin consultations and present its first set of recommendations in the coming months.
