Police Arrest Three Over Murder of Youth Leader in Ebonyi

The Ebonyi State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of three suspects linked to the killing of a youth leader, Udu Uzor, in Ekoli Edda, Edda Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

The tragic incident, which occurred during a violent crisis in the community about two months ago, claimed several lives and left many properties destroyed.

According to reports, some of the suspects were apprehended while attempting to flee to neighboring Abia State.

Speaking to journalists at the police headquarters in Abakaliki, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Adaku Uche-Anya, disclosed that operatives of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team carried out the arrests after thorough investigations.

She revealed the identities of the suspects as Amarachi Ude, Idika Ama Okoro, and Sunday Ama Olughu, adding that they will be charged to court after investigations are concluded.

“Following the Ekoli Edda unrest that resulted in the murder of Udu Uzor on July 9, 2025, police operatives swung into action. The suspects were successfully arrested and will face justice accordingly,” CP Uche-Anya stated.

The Commissioner further assured residents that the police are committed to restoring peace and ensuring that all perpetrators of the crisis are prosecuted without delay.
