Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has honoured Nigeria’s D’Tigress basketball champion, Blessing Ejiofor, with a cash prize of N30 million, a duplex at the Civil and Public Servant Estate, and a prestigious state recognition award.
The gesture was announced on Friday during a special reception held at the Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Abakaliki, to celebrate Ejiofor’s outstanding achievement with the national women’s basketball team.
Governor Nwifuru also revealed that N50 million has been approved for the Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Richard Idike, to construct a standard basketball court in the state. According to him, the facility will serve as a training ground for young talents preparing for upcoming basketball seasons.
“She is a true ambassador of Ebonyi State and Nigeria. Congratulations, Miss Blessing,” the governor stated.
