Civil Servants’ Reward Scheme Steals Spotlight as FG Tours Ebonyi

Date:

The Federal Government has praised Ebonyi State’s innovative civil servants’ reward scheme, describing it as a model of responsive and people-focused governance.

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, gave the commendation on Friday during a federal delegation’s visit to Abakaliki. The visit was aimed at assessing the impact of federal-state partnerships on grassroots development, particularly in the wake of fuel subsidy removal.

Idris lauded Ebonyi State’s prudent management of post-subsidy resources, noting that the administration of Governor Francis Nwifuru has effectively transformed savings into meaningful projects that directly improve the lives of citizens.

“This is what true governance looks like—investing in the priorities of the people,” the minister said.

A major highlight of the tour was the unveiling of the Civil Servant Reward Estate, an initiative by Governor Nwifuru’s administration. The estate, described as the first of its kind in the South East, provides fully built houses at no cost to outstanding teachers, diligent civil servants, and young talents who have distinguished themselves in service.

Governor Nwifuru emphasized that the initiative reflects his administration’s commitment to honouring hard work and promoting excellence in public service.

“When individuals serve with dedication and loyalty, they deserve recognition,” he stated.

Among the awardees was a young Afro-basketball star from Ebonyi, celebrated for her achievements and contribution to placing the state on the continental sports map.

The federal delegation’s visit further aligns with the government’s broader strategy of promoting transparency, strengthening state collaborations, and ensuring effective use of post-subsidy funds nationwide.
