The Federal Government has launched a three-day citizens’ engagement and project inspection tour in Enugu and Ebonyi States, aimed at showcasing ongoing developments and fostering direct interaction with residents in the South East.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made this known during a media parley with journalists, influencers, and stakeholders in Enugu on Wednesday night. Represented by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Chinasa Nnam Ogbodo, Idris said the initiative is part of efforts to strengthen government–citizen communication.
According to him, the delegation comprises officials from the Ministry of Information and its agencies, the National Communications Team, the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), the Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria (BON), the Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers Union (RATTAWU), and the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).
The minister revealed that the tour would cover both federal and state government projects in Enugu before moving to Ebonyi. A Citizens’ Engagement Forum will be held at the Enugu State Government House today, Thursday, at 6 p.m., followed by a similar forum in Ebonyi State on Friday, August 15, 2025, where Governor Ogbonna Francis Nwifiru will host the team.
“These events will be aired live on national television to ensure transparency and nationwide participation,” Idris noted, commending Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State for his support in facilitating the visit.
The minister also conveyed President Bola Tinubu’s goodwill to the people of the South East, stressing that the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda is actively delivering results across the country.
