Ebonyi First Lady Honoured with 2025 Southeast Healthcare Excellence Award

Date:

The First Lady of Ebonyi State, Chief (Mrs) Mary-Maudline Ogbonna Nwifuru, has been awarded the Most Outstanding First Lady in Healthcare Services in Southeast Nigeria by the Democracy Newsline Newspaper.

The announcement was made in a press release signed by the Chairman and CEO of Democracy Newsline, Chief Olugbemi Femi, and distributed to journalists in Abuja.

According to the organizers, the First Lady’s exceptional contributions to strengthening the healthcare system in Ebonyi State played a major role in her selection. Her recent healthcare-driven projects — including a Cholera Prevention initiative and the distribution of essential medications and hospital consumables — have been widely recognized for addressing public health challenges.

The prestigious award will be officially presented on August 26, 2025, during the 15th edition of the Democracy Newsline Public Lecture and Award Ceremony, themed “Promoting Participatory Democracy and Good Governance in Nigeria.” The event will take place at the National Merit House, Maitama, Abuja, with a red carpet session beginning at 5:00 PM, followed by the award ceremony and dinner.

Mrs. Nwifuru has also received commendation for her active role in combating maternal and child mortality and her unwavering advocacy against gender-based violence (GBV) in the region.

This recognition adds to the growing list of accolades for Chief (Mrs) Nwifuru as a passionate advocate for accessible and improved healthcare across Ebonyi and the Southeast.
