In celebration of the 62nd birthday of Nigeria’s Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, a coalition of organizations will host a free medical outreach in Uburu, Ebonyi State.
The event, taking place on July 25, 2025, at Eke Aja Hall, is a joint effort by the David Umahi Federal University Teaching Hospital (DUFUTH), Adu Youth Forum Uburu, Joyce John Cancer Foundation, and the David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences.
Residents of Uburu and nearby communities will benefit from a variety of healthcare services, such as diabetes and hypertension screening, cervical cancer tests, dental and vision checks, deworming, as well as distribution of medicines and health items. The outreach will also include health education talks on nutrition and preventive care.
Hon. Odii Ene Ogbonnaya, President of the Adu Youth Forum, stated that the outreach is both a gesture of appreciation and a response to the health needs of the community.
“Our aim is to give back while celebrating a man who has made significant contributions to our people. Good health is foundational, and we want our people to take advantage of this opportunity,” he said.
In addition to the medical outreach, community-centered events such as a football tournament are part of the celebration lineup, reflecting the minister’s impact and continued support for grassroots development.
This initiative is expected to improve health awareness and access to basic medical services for hundreds of beneficiaries.
