Thrills, Tension, Triumph: Four Students Win Big at Spark Nation 2.0 in Ebonyi

Date:

The air crackled with tension as the final phase of Spark Nation 2.0 reached its climax at Osborn La Palm, Mile 50, Abakaliki, where brilliant young minds from across the country went head-to-head in fiercely contested debate and quiz battles. After a week of intellectual duels, cultural showcases, and leadership development, four students rose above the competition — securing ₦1 million each, full university scholarships, and an all-expenses-paid leadership training in California, USA.

The debate category was won by Akinoluwa Olajolo of Wellspring College, Lagos, and Emeka Nwuke Michelle of Comprehensive School of Management & Technology (CSMT), Ebonyi State as the first runner up. In the quiz category, Oroke Victor and Oduge Moses, both from Great Achievers College, Abakaliki, emerged victorious.

Each winner received:

  • An all-expenses-paid leadership training trip to California, USA
  • A full university scholarship at a public institution for the duration of their studies
  • ₦1 million cash prize

Their teachers—Eziukwu Chidiebere (Great Achievers College) and Ojotolupe Ojulari (Wellspring College)—were also rewarded with ₦200,000 each.

Beyond the competitions, Spark Nation 2.0 featured cultural variety nights, theatre performances, and cluster meetings where students explored themes such as artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship, spirituality, education, and leadership under the guidance of seasoned professionals. Panel sessions allowed participants to interact directly with dignitaries and thought leaders.

Speakers included Professor Akachi Ezeigbo, Engr Dr. Mathew C. Chibueze, Professor Ben Voth, S. Raphael Davis, among others.

Participants described the camp as one of the most impactful experiences of their lives. A common sentiment was that the program pushed them beyond their perceived limits, showing them there is truly “no such thing as a limit.”

All participants received the Ronald Reagan Leadership Award and certificates of participation for their dedication during the camp.

While the event highlighted Ebonyi’s growing profile as a hub of promising youth talent, some participants voiced disappointment at the absence of state government officials throughout the seven-day program.

“This event doesn’t just benefit students — it brings Ebonyi into the spotlight. We would have appreciated seeing the governor or his representatives here,” one participant said.

As the state continues its journey of growth and transformation, Spark Nation 2.0 stands out as a beacon of what is possible — changing stereotypes, ONE YOUTH at a time.
