NYSC: Ebonyi State Government Assures Corps Members of Safety, Welfare, and Meaningful Engagement

Date:

The Ebonyi State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to the safety, welfare, and productive engagement of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members posted to the state.

Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, through his representative, Hon. Richard Ugo Idike, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, made this known during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2025 Batch A Stream II corps members at the NYSC Orientation Camp, located in Old MacGregor College, Afikpo Local Government Area.

According to the Governor, “Our administration remains dedicated to ensuring that corps members are not only safe but are also meaningfully engaged during their service year in Ebonyi State.”

He emphasized the relevance of the NYSC scheme as a unifying platform that brings together Nigerian youths from diverse backgrounds to contribute to national growth and cohesion.

“The NYSC scheme has consistently played a vital role in promoting national integration, empowering youths, and contributing significantly to sectors such as healthcare, education, infrastructure, and agriculture,” he added.

Speaking at the event, the State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Oladeinde Foluke, praised the state government’s unwavering support for the scheme, noting that Governor Nwifuru’s administration has shown exemplary leadership by prioritizing the needs and welfare of corps members.

She acknowledged the presence of top government officials, including Hon. Justice Nicholas Nwode—representing the Chief Judge of Ebonyi State—who administered the oath of allegiance to the newly inducted corps members.

“This ceremony marks a new chapter in the lives of these young Nigerians. It also reflects the giant strides Ebonyi State has made in enhancing the NYSC experience,” she said.

The event also featured the inspection of a newly completed camp clinic and the ongoing construction of additional hostels to further improve the living conditions of corps members at the orientation camp.

Mrs. Foluke expressed her gratitude to all stakeholders and dignitaries who contributed to the success of the swearing-in ceremony.
