The city of Afikpo came alive on Wednesday as constituents of Afikpo/Edda Federal Constituency trooped out en masse in a solidarity walk to celebrate Rt. Hon. Iduma Enwo Igariwey (fondly known as Okpudo) for his impactful leadership and to mark the second anniversary of his re-election to the House of Representatives in 2023.
The peaceful demonstration drew a massive crowd comprising men, women, youth, and various socio-cultural groups who converged to express their appreciation for the lawmaker’s ongoing commitment to the development of the constituency.
Participants marched through major streets of Afikpo with music, banners, and chants of solidarity. The atmosphere was filled with energy, as citizens came out to visibly identify with the lawmaker’s efforts in improving infrastructure, supporting education, promoting youth empowerment, and ensuring accessible representation at the national level.
Many described the turnout as one of the largest gatherings in recent times in Afikpo, praising the unity and sense of purpose that the walk reflected.
Organizers of the event stated that the walk was a voluntary initiative by constituents who felt it was important to acknowledge the visible progress made under Rt. Hon. Igariwey’s stewardship.
Although Rt. Hon. Igariwey was not physically present at the march, his media team later released a message thanking the people for their show of love. “This demonstration of support humbles me deeply,” the message read. “It is a reminder of the responsibility I carry, and I remain committed to delivering results that uplift our constituency.”
