Ebonyi State is on the verge of a historic transportation breakthrough as United Nigeria Airlines (UNA) officials recently visited the Chuba Okadigbo International Airport, Onueke, in preparation for the commencement of commercial flights on June 13, 2025.
Dr. Ngozi M. Obichukwu, the Ebonyi State Commissioner for Aviation and Transport Technology, shared photos from the visit, showing herself in high spirits alongside key representatives from the airline. The meeting signals a solid partnership between Ebonyi State and United Nigeria Airlines as they gear up to launch scheduled flights between Abuja, Lagos, and Ebonyi.
The soon-to-begin services will be the airport’s first fully commercial operations, having previously handled only chartered flights. With full approval from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), the airport has met all safety and operational standards necessary to support regular airline activities.
United Nigeria Airlines, known for its commitment to regional air connectivity, will now link Ebonyi to major cities in Nigeria, opening new opportunities for tourism, business, and investment in the state.
Dr. Obichukwu noted that the state government is fully committed to sustaining aviation development as part of its broader infrastructure goals.
“To God be the glory!” she wrote, celebrating the milestone.
This development firmly places Ebonyi on Nigeria’s aviation map and sets the stage for increased mobility, economic growth, and statewide progress.
