The Ebonyi State Government has officially unveiled EBOCAB, a groundbreaking digital transport initiative aimed at revolutionizing the state’s mobility network, stimulating the economy, and enhancing the overall well-being and security of residents.
The unveiling, which took place yesterday, marked a significant milestone in the state’s commitment to leveraging technology for development. Speaking at the launch, Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru described the initiative as “a fulfillment of our promise to improve transportation, create jobs, and strengthen public safety across Ebonyi.”
“This digitally driven system is here to improve our mode of transportation, create jobs, grow our economy, enhance the security of our people, and our overall wellbeing,” the Governor stated.
Designed to serve both intra- and inter-state commuters, EBOCAB will link strategic locations such as the Ebonyi International Airport, the state’s International Market, and other urban and rural centers. The goal is to provide safe, reliable, and comfortable transport while opening up new economic opportunities for drivers, operators, and support staff.
Governor Nwifuru emphasized that EBOCAB aligns with his administration’s People’s Charter of Needs, a policy framework focused on responsive and inclusive governance. He urged the system’s managers to maintain high standards of service and innovation.
“I congratulate the management and charge them to be firm, focused and tap into the creativity and huge potential of this system to improve the lives of Ebonyi people and grow our economy,” he said.
The Governor reassured residents that initiatives like EBOCAB are part of a broader vision to transform Ebonyi into a digitally connected, economically vibrant, and people-oriented state.
“It is and has always been all about meeting the needs of Ebonyi people,” he reaffirmed. “Our Government will continue to key into programs geared towards attaining our goals as contained in the People’s Charter of Needs.”
As the system prepares to go live across the state, residents and stakeholders alike are optimistic that EBOCAB will redefine transport standards in Ebonyi and set a benchmark for other states to follow.
