The Ebonyi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), along with Senators Onyekachi Nwebonyi (Ebonyi North) and Ken Eze (Ebonyi Central), have expressed strong support and admiration for Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru’s role in restoring peace in the crisis-stricken Ezza-Effium region.
Governor Nwifuru has been commended for taking decisive steps to end the prolonged communal clashes. These measures include the enactment of a peace accord, the initiation of land boundary demarcation, and the establishment of five autonomous communities to promote harmony between the warring factions.
In a statement issued by APC Publicity Secretary, Chidi Sinbad Ogbuatu, the party lauded the Governor’s proactive and inclusive approach, stating that his leadership has brought stability and hope back to the region.
“Governor Nwifuru has shown rare political courage and a genuine desire for peace. His actions to rebuild trust and unity between Ezza and Effium people reflect his unwavering commitment to the security and well-being of all Ebonyians,” Ogbuatu said.
He added that the creation of autonomous communities and boundary mapping represents a crucial milestone in ending the hostility, describing it as a “bold and strategic decision that demonstrates true leadership.”
Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi, Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate, praised Governor Nwifuru as a “peace ambassador,” applauding his unbiased approach in resolving a conflict that had devastated lives and property for years.
He emphasized the importance of embracing the peace initiative, noting that the legal framework backing the peace accord ensures all parties are held accountable.
“The Governor’s decision to demarcate lands and grant autonomy to new communities is a visionary step that lays a solid foundation for lasting peace,” Nwebonyi remarked.
Echoing similar sentiments, Senator Ken Eze, representing Ebonyi Central, commended the Governor for demonstrating exceptional political will and commitment to conflict resolution.
“Your efforts to end the four-year crisis have not gone unnoticed. You’ve shown that peace is achievable when a leader is determined to act selflessly and fairly,” Senator Eze stated.
He further appreciated Governor Nwifuru for institutionalizing the peace process by forwarding a bill to the State House of Assembly, resulting in the legal creation of new communities and the resolution of land disputes.
“This is a landmark achievement that reflects the objectivity of a just leader determined to prevent future unrest,” Eze said.
He concluded by expressing gratitude for the Governor’s consistent peacebuilding efforts across Ebonyi State, praying for continued wisdom and strength for the Governor as he leads the state toward unity and development.
