In a major push towards industrial transformation and economic growth, the Ebonyi State Government has kicked off the development of a state-of-the-art Industrial City in Ishiangbo, located in Ezzamgbo, Ohaukwu LGA.
The project, championed by Governor Francis Nwifuru, is set to redefine the industrial landscape of the state. According to the governor, this initiative is a strategic response to the need for inclusive economic opportunities, improved infrastructure, and sustainable development.
“This Industrial City is a deliberate effort to convert our economic potential into real progress—through industries, innovation, and investment,” Nwifuru noted during the official groundbreaking ceremony.
Designed to serve as a multipurpose industrial zone, the city will include cutting-edge facilities such as a stable, independent power supply, a comprehensive road network, modern water systems, and robust environmental safeguards. Plans also include tech-friendly infrastructure like high-speed internet and integrated security to support investors and residents alike.
The location was carefully selected for its proximity to vital resources, including raw materials, skilled labor, and key transit routes. Once completed, the city is expected to house manufacturing centers, tech hubs, logistics depots, and export terminals.
Governor Nwifuru emphasized that the project aims to attract both domestic and foreign investors while creating thousands of employment opportunities—especially for youth and women. “Our focus is to boost local production, reduce migration to urban centers, and stimulate enterprise within our communities,” he added.
The Industrial City is also envisioned as a revenue booster for the state, offering a vibrant environment for small and medium-sized businesses and encouraging regional trade and innovation.
Ebonyi’s administration has pledged strong commitment and collaboration with strategic partners to ensure timely execution and long-term impact of the project.
