President Tinubu to Launch Calabar–Abuja Super Highway Project in Ebonyi State

Date:

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, will officially flag off the construction of the Calabar–Ebonyi–Benue–Nasarawa–Abuja Super Highway (Section 1: 118.8 kilometers) on Wednesday, April 16, 2025. The groundbreaking event is scheduled to take place at Amuro Mgbom Primary School in Afikpo, Ebonyi State, by 1:00 PM.

The Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, FNIOB, FCAI, GGCEHF, is hosting the historic occasion and has extended a formal invitation to key stakeholders across political, religious, and civic spaces.

Among the invited dignitaries are Deputy Governor Princess Patricia Onyemachi Obila, the Speaker and Members of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, federal appointees from the state, past and present National Assembly members, state executive council members, security chiefs, religious leaders, youth organizations, and members of the general public.

According to a statement signed by the Honourable Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Engr. Jude Chikadibia Okpor, attendance is compulsory for all government functionaries.

The Calabar–Abuja Super Highway is expected to enhance national connectivity by linking five states — Cross River, Ebonyi, Benue, Nasarawa — and the Federal Capital Territory. Once completed, the expressway will improve transportation efficiency, boost inter-state commerce, and promote economic growth in the South-East, South-South, and North-Central regions of Nigeria.

This significant infrastructure project reflects President Tinubu’s commitment to regional development and underscores Ebonyi State’s strategic role in the country’s development agenda.
