No One-Term Agreement for Nwifuru — Ebonyi APC

Date:

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State has dismissed recent claims suggesting that Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru agreed to serve only a single four-year term. The party clarified that no such deal—either written or verbal—was ever made.

In an official statement, the APC Publicity Secretary, Ogbuatu Simbad, described the reports as baseless and misleading. “There was never any agreement to limit Governor Nwifuru to a single term. His leadership is divinely ordained and fully backed by the party,” he said.

Ogbuatu noted that since the creation of Ebonyi State, no governor has served only one term, emphasizing that continuity has always defined the state’s political history. He further accused some individuals of attempting to mislead the public, but expressed confidence in the political awareness of Ebonyi citizens.

Meanwhile, the APC leadership has commenced a state-wide reconciliation and unification drive, visiting aggrieved party members across all 13 local government areas and 171 wards. Led by State Chairman Chief Stanley Okoro-Emegha and the State Working Committee, the outreach focused on rebuilding trust and reaffirming the party’s commitment to inclusivity and internal democracy.

“What started as a reconciliation effort turned into a reunion. Formerly aggrieved members have recommitted to the party, and unity is being restored,” Ogbuatu added.

The party also commended Governor Nwifuru’s developmental strides, particularly in infrastructure and governance. According to the APC, the governor has placed Ebonyi on a progressive path, and his administration is gaining ground through humility, peace-building, and effective leadership.

In the media sector, the Ebonyi Broadcasting Corporation (EBBC) has undergone significant transformation under Nwifuru’s administration. The Director General of the corporation, Tony Nwizi, revealed that the state-owned radio and television stations have been upgraded to international standards, with new equipment enabling 24-hour broadcasting.

During a visit by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Correspondents’ Chapel, Nwizi applauded the governor for reviving the media institution from near collapse. He also called on journalists to maintain objective reporting and support the state’s positive image.

Uchenna Inya, Chairperson of the Correspondents’ Chapel, described Nwizi as a fitting choice for the role and praised the administration for investing in the state’s communication infrastructure. He also encouraged the introduction of engaging programs to expand the audience base.

As political stability grows and developmental projects unfold, the Ebonyi APC reaffirmed its support for Governor Nwifuru, indicating that his leadership has earned widespread approval across the state.
