As the world commemorates World Health Day 2025 under the theme “My Health, My Right,” the First Lady of Ebonyi State has emphasized the government’s dedication to equitable and accessible healthcare for all citizens.
Reinforcing that health is a basic human right—not a privilege—she highlighted how the administration’s healthcare agenda, captured in The People’s Charter of Needs, aligns with the global vision for universal health coverage. Through the efforts of the state-led initiative, BERWO (Better Ebonyi Women’s Organization), and in collaboration with His Excellency, several impactful interventions have been rolled out.
These include free health insurance enrollment for individuals living with sickle cell disorder and continuous advocacy for maternal and child healthcare services. The First Lady stated that their focus remains on reaching the underserved—especially the elderly, infants, and rural dwellers—ensuring that no one is left behind in the journey toward a healthier Ebonyi.
She concluded with a powerful reminder: “Good health is the foundation of strong communities and should be safeguarded as a right for all.”
