A recently surfaced photo of an ongoing road construction project in Edda Local Government Area of Ebonyi State has stirred public concern over the quality and scope of the work being done.
The road in question is a two-kilometre stretch reportedly being constructed by the Ebonyi State Government. It leads to Idima Secondary School in Okorojo community, Edda LGA. However, the image, captured by journalist Wisdom Nwedene, appears to show a surface that resembles a basic concrete German floor, rather than a standard asphalt or fully-paved road.
Residents and online commentators have begun to question whether this is the final stage of the road or merely a foundation. Many argue that if the current state is indeed the completed project, it falls short of acceptable standards for road infrastructure, particularly one leading to a public secondary school.
“This doesn’t look like a road project meant to last or handle heavy usage,” one concerned citizen wrote.
The development adds to a growing discourse around the transparency, quality control, and execution of public infrastructure projects across the state.
