The Ebonyi State Police Command has officially declared a 35-year-old woman, Zainab Obini, missing and is appealing to the public for any information regarding her whereabouts.
According to a statement released by the Command’s spokesperson, Superintendent Joshua Ukandu, Mrs. Obini was last seen on March 3, 2025, after leaving her husband’s residence. Her disappearance was reported by her husband, Obini Chikwe, who resides at 10 Iroko Street, Ezi Egwu Enohia Itim, Afikpo North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
Superintendent Ukandu stated that Mrs. Obini left home following a disagreement with her husband and has not returned since. Despite extensive efforts to locate her, there has been no trace of her movements.
“We have launched an investigation into her disappearance, and so far, all efforts to find her have been unsuccessful. We urge the public to provide any useful information that could help in locating her,” Ukandu said.
The police provided the following details about Mrs. Obini: she is 1.75 meters tall, fair-skinned, and has no tribal marks. She is fluent in English, Igbo, and Arabic.
Authorities are urging anyone with relevant details about Mrs. Obini’s whereabouts to come forward. Concerned individuals can report to the nearest police station or contact the Ebonyi State Police Command through their emergency hotline.
“This is a distressing situation for her family. We appeal to residents, especially those in Afikpo North and surrounding areas, to assist in the search. Any information, no matter how small, could be crucial,” Ukandu added.
The case has raised concerns about safety, particularly for women in the region. Community members and advocacy groups have called for increased security measures and swift police action in handling missing persons’ cases.
