Ebonyi State University Set for Major Infrastructure Upgrade as Governor Nwifuru Approves New Faculty Building

Date:

Governor Francis Nwifuru has approved the construction of a new Faculty of Engineering and Environmental Sciences building at Ebonyi State University (EBSU) as part of efforts to enhance academic facilities and upgrade the institution’s infrastructure.

During an unannounced visit to the Ishieke campus, the governor expressed concern over the deteriorating state of some structures and announced plans to replace them with a modern faculty complex that will support quality education. In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Monday, Nwifuru reaffirmed his commitment to repositioning the university as a leading institution in Nigeria.

“It saddens me to see the current state of the university. As a former student, I expected significant improvements, but instead, I found structures that are long overdue for renovation. After seeing things firsthand, I have approved a new faculty building to support academic excellence,” he stated.

To address power supply challenges, the governor also directed the Ministry of Power to install a 500KVA transformer, ensuring a more stable electricity supply for students and faculty. He assured students that his administration remains committed to improving learning environments, equipping departments with modern facilities, and making the university more competitive on a national scale.

This initiative aligns with the state government’s vision to enhance the quality of education in Ebonyi and transform EBSU into a top-tier institution.
