Days after the recruitment of 328 healthcare workers in Ebonyi State, the initiative is receiving widespread praise from health professionals and industry experts. The National Association of Community Health Practitioners of Nigeria (NACHPN), Ebonyi State Chapter, has commended Governor Francis Nwifuru for his commitment to strengthening the state’s healthcare system.
The recruitment drive, which deployed health practitioners across the state’s 13 local government areas, is already yielding positive results. Experts say the initiative is bridging gaps in primary healthcare delivery, particularly in maternal and child health services.
Chetachi Usulor, the Chairman of NACHPN in Ebonyi, described the move as a strategic investment in public health.
“The structured deployment of these health professionals is enhancing service delivery, reducing workload pressure, and improving access to essential healthcare,” Usulor stated.
Apart from hiring healthcare professionals, the Ebonyi State Government has focused on upgrading healthcare facilities and equipping them with modern medical resources. Additionally, the state has collaborated with global health organizations like the World Bank to train newly recruited Skilled Birth Attendants (SBAs), further strengthening maternal and child healthcare services.
“With better-equipped facilities and a stronger workforce, we are seeing a gradual transformation in Ebonyi’s healthcare landscape,” Usulor added.
Stakeholders have urged the newly engaged health workers to remain committed to professionalism, emphasizing that their dedication will directly impact the effectiveness of the reforms.
