IPOB-PW Condemns Arrest of Ohanaeze Youth Leader Igboayaka O Igboayaka Over Ebonyi Killings

Date:

The Indigenous People of Biafra’s Political Wing (IPOB-PW) has strongly criticized the arrest of Ohanaeze Youth President, Igboayaka O Igboayaka, who was allegedly taken from his residence in Imo State and transferred to Ebonyi State.

According to IPOB-PW, the Ebonyi State Government may have played a role in the arrest, and they maintain that Igboayaka has committed no offense.

“At first, it seemed like an abduction, sparking panic among his family and supporters. We believe law enforcement should have invited him for questioning regarding his remarks on the Ebonyi killings rather than resorting to such measures,” the group stated.

IPOB-PW called on Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, to intervene, stressing that freedom of speech must be upheld.

“While responsible speech is essential, it is alarming that an Igbo youth leader was detained for speaking on the tragic killings in Ebonyi, where several Igbo people lost their lives,” the group emphasized.

The group further urged authorities to focus on arresting the perpetrators of the violence rather than detaining activists.

“We call on the governor to release Igboayaka O Igboayaka and prioritize efforts to bring the real culprits to justice. The administration must also take decisive steps to restore security in the state.”

Additionally, IPOB-PW advocated for unity among Igbo factions and improved intelligence-sharing to prevent further violence.

“It is unacceptable that after the massacre of innocent Igbo people, their community leader is the one being arrested. We demand justice and accountability,” the statement concluded.
