Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Ezeogo Agom Eze, the former chairman of the state’s Traditional Rulers’ Council.
Ezeogo Agom Eze, the paramount ruler of Onicha Igboeze in Onicha Local Government Area, passed away on February 20 at the age of 92. Born in September 1932, he played a pivotal role in the creation of Ebonyi State in 1996.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Monday Uzor, in Abakaliki, Governor Nwifuru described Ezeogo Agom Eze as a monumental figure in the state’s history, lauding his contributions as a statesman, academic, and traditional leader.
“His Royal Highness was a distinguished leader who left an indelible mark on our state and the nation. His service as Commissioner for Works, Lands, Housing, Education, and Information in the old Imo State showcased his visionary leadership,” Nwifuru stated.
Ezeogo Agom Eze also served as Pro-Chancellor of both Abia State University and Ebonyi State University, further cementing his legacy in education and human development.
Governor Nwifuru extended his condolences to the people of Onicha Igboeze, the late ruler’s family, and all those impacted by his leadership, stating that his legacies will continue to inspire efforts toward a better future for Ebonyi State.
