Ebonyi Community Undertakes Rural Road Grading

Date:

Residents of Eguho in Ezzagu, Ishielu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State have initiated the grading of previously impassable roads in their community.

Funded by stakeholders and members of the Eguho Leaders of Thought, the project aims to complement Governor Francis Nwifuru’s rural development efforts in the state.

Chief Chinedu Inyere, President General of the Eguho Development Union, emphasized the urgency of the initiative, citing the negative impact of poor road conditions on agriculture and local economic activities.

“Eguho, despite being the oldest village in the Old Ezzagu zone, lacks basic social amenities. There are no roads, no water, no electricity, and no telecommunication network,” Inyere lamented.

He explained that with contributions from community leaders, the union decided to embark on the road grading project to improve accessibility. “These roads are so bad that even motorcycles can’t pass. Many times, we have to trek to reach our villages,” he added.

While commending the contributions of Eguho stakeholders, Inyere appealed to the Ebonyi State government to assist in providing basic infrastructure, particularly by completing the electricity project from Agba to Ezzagu Community.
