The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has apprehended a suspect, Chinagorom Njoku, in Ebonyi State for illegal possession of 56 kilograms of Cannabis Sativa. The arrest took place in Ohaukwu Local Government Area, following intelligence from local sources.
NSCDC Ebonyi Commandant, Francis Nnadi, disclosed that Njoku and his younger brother were caught dealing in the banned substance despite repeated warnings from their family. The suspects allegedly attacked a relative who refused to release the concealed cannabis, leading to their arrest.
The NSCDC also revealed ongoing investigations into other criminal activities, including a scrap dealer involved in selling stolen government property and a syndicate specializing in tricycle theft.
The command reassured residents of its commitment to combating crime and urged the public to provide credible information to support law enforcement efforts.
