The Ebonyi State House of Assembly has repealed the Ebonyi State Roads Maintenance Agency (EBROMA) Law, 2010, replacing it with the Ebonyi State Maintenance Agency (EBMA) Law, 2025. The new law expands the agency’s mandate to oversee the maintenance of all government structures across various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in the state. It also restructures leadership, with a Director General at the helm and three zonal directors representing the North, South, and Central zones.
Additionally, the Assembly repealed the Ebonyi State University of Aerospace Engineering Law, 2021, renaming it the Ebonyi State University of Aeronautics and Aerospace Engineering, Ezza, Law, 2025.
During the session, the Eighth Assembly strongly condemned the recent attack and brutal killing of residents in Amagu-Nkalaha community, Ishielu Local Government Area, by unidentified assailants. Lawmakers urged security agencies to track down and prosecute the perpetrators.
The resolutions were made during the first plenary of 2025 at the Legislative Complex, Nkaliki Road, Abakaliki. At the session, the Assembly also screened and confirmed Mrs. Aisha Isa-Nwachi as the Coordinator-designate of Ubeyi Development Centre, Afikpo Local Government Area.
Speaker Chief Moses Odunwa decried the senseless killings in Amagu-Nkalaha, emphasizing that the state had enjoyed peace under the current administration. He commended Governor Francis Nwifuru for his proactive leadership and assured the House’s unwavering support in advancing the Governor’s People’s Charter of Needs policy.
In response, Aisha Isa-Nwachi expressed gratitude for her appointment, screening, and confirmation. She pledged to collaborate with stakeholders to ensure that government policies and programs align with the expectations of the people of Ubeyi.
