Ebonyi Police Arrest Suspect Linked to Nkalaha Community Attack

Date:

The Ebonyi State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a suspect in connection with the deadly attack on Amagu Nkalaha community last Sunday, where at least 15 people lost their lives and several buildings were set ablaze.

In a press statement released on Wednesday, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Joshua Ukandu, stated that a tactical team deployed by the State Commissioner of Police, Adaku Uche-Anya, apprehended the suspect with the help of local residents. He was intercepted at the border between Nkalaha and Eha-Amufu while attempting to flee.

The suspect, identified as Maduabuchi Chimaobi Ebeh, is believed to be the same individual seen in a 3-minute, 22-second viral video circulating on social media, where he was being interrogated. In the video, he allegedly mentioned names of other individuals linked to the attack, including Nwa Mummy, Igbudu, Diamond, Ife, and Junior.

Acting on intelligence from the suspect, police operatives raided the hideout of the perpetrators. Although the assailants had fled before security forces arrived, officers recovered three locally made single-barreled guns, a uniform resembling that of the Police, a pair of jungle boots, Army camouflage shorts, and combat trousers.

The Police Command assured the public that efforts are ongoing to track down the remaining suspects. Authorities urged anyone with relevant information to report to the nearest police station.
