Ebonyi Couple Seeks Help to Save Their 7-Year-Old Daughter

Date:

A couple from Nduegueshi Akpenyi Umuogudeoshia Ngbo community in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Ngozi Ibina, have made a heartfelt plea for financial assistance to save their 7-year-old daughter, who was born without a reproductive organ and anus.

Having exhausted all their resources on medical care, the peasant farming couple is calling on the state government, the First Lady’s office, philanthropists, corporate organizations, and well-meaning individuals to support their child’s treatment.

According to the child’s mother, the condition was discovered at birth in November 2017 at Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki. Due to the absence of natural openings for excretion, doctors created two openings in the abdomen for urination and defecation. However, the family could not afford the necessary major surgeries to correct the anomaly.

“This condition has subjected my child to severe pain, stigmatization, and emotional distress. I have been forced to abandon my farming and other engagements to care for her,” the mother lamented.

The father, Mr. Ibina, who provided his contact number (09151260010) for potential helpers, revealed that the family has struggled to finance two previous surgeries. He added that doctors have recommended further major procedures, but financial constraints have prevented them from proceeding.

“We have sought solutions everywhere, even through spiritual means, yet the only viable option remains medical surgery, which we cannot afford. I beg the government and the public to help us give our child a chance at a normal life,” he pleaded.
