NNL Dismisses Rovers FC’s Petition, Fines Abakaliki FC N1m

Date:

The Nigeria National League (NNL) has rejected Rovers of Calabar’s petition requesting three points and three goals from their matchday five clash against Abakaliki FC at the Pa-Oruta Ngele Stadium, Abakaliki.

Rovers accused Abakaliki FC of fielding an unregistered player, Johnson Umeh. However, the NNL determined the claim was unsubstantiated, as Umeh neither participated in the match nor appeared in the league’s registration portal.

Despite the dismissal of the petition, the NNL imposed a N1 million fine on Abakaliki FC for misconduct. The club was penalized N500,000 for unauthorized interference by their chairman and officials in the technical area and an additional N500,000 for permitting an unauthorized individual to wear their official jersey and access the technical zone.

Both clubs have 48 hours to appeal the decision.
