Ebonyi State: 17 in Custody for Brutal Murder of Uromchi Okorocha

Date:

The gruesome murder of Uromchi Okorocha in Enohia Itim village, Afikpo Local Government Area, Ebonyi State, has led to the arrest of 17 suspects by police operatives on January 3, 2025. The suspects, who accused Okorocha of witchcraft, bypassed legal channels and took the law into their own hands. They brutally killed and burned him before law enforcement could intervene.

Inspector-General of Police Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun strongly condemned the act, stating, “Jungle justice is unacceptable and has no place in a civilized society.” He emphasized the need for citizens to follow due process and seek legal recourse in addressing grievances.

Reiterating the police force’s dedication to justice, Egbetokun assured the public, “We will leave no stone unturned in bringing perpetrators of violent crimes to justice.” He also urged citizens to report criminal activities promptly to help maintain law and order.
