Months After Abduction, Family of Ebonyi Student Seeks Dual Governorship Assistance

Date:

The family of David Ogbonnaya, a student of Kingdom College in Abia State, is desperately seeking the help of Governors Alex Otti and Francis Nwifuru to locate their son, who was abducted during a violent land dispute in March 2024.

David, a native of Amagu Ishiagu in Ebonyi State, was among eight students kidnapped by a group of youths from Ndi Okorie community, who attacked the college farm. While six of the abducted students were rescued by the Nigerian Army, David’s fate remains a mystery.

Abel Ogbonnaya, David’s brother, expressed frustration and despair over the lack of progress in finding his brother. “We’ve been searching for David for months, but all our efforts have been in vain. We’re counting on the governors and other authorities to help us bring David home.”

The family has reached out to various authorities, including Governor Francis Nwifuru, the member representing Amagu in the House of Representatives, Chinedu Ogah, and the majority leader of Abia State House of Assembly, Uchenna Kalu. However, they claim that their pleas have fallen on deaf ears.

In a bizarre twist, a policeman sent to investigate the abduction was himself kidnapped by the same group and later rescued by the Nigerian Army.

The Ogbonnaya family is urging Governors Otti and Nwifuru, as well as the police and other authorities, to take immediate action to find David and bring him home safely.
