Civil servants in Ebonyi State are set to enjoy a Christmas bonus of ₦150,000, as announced by Governor Rt. Hon. Francis Nwifuru.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary, Monday Uzor, confirmed that the bonus would be credited to workers’ accounts before 1 p.m. on Tuesday, December 17.
Last year, Governor Nwifuru demonstrated a similar commitment by granting ₦100,000 bonuses to state workers, alongside governors of Lagos and Rivers, to cushion the effects of the fuel subsidy removal.
Meanwhile, local government employees are hopeful that council chairmen will match the ₦50,000 bonus provided to them last Christmas.
In November, the governor had also approved a ₦75,000 minimum wage for state workers, surpassing the federal rate of ₦70,000, as part of efforts to address economic challenges faced by the workforce. Civil servants on grade level 2 will enjoy the full ₦75,000, while those on higher levels will receive increments of ₦40,000.
