Sunday Odey, a 40-year-old truck driver employed by a construction company, is seeking government intervention after his two children were kidnapped from 16 Nibo Street in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State. The incident occurred on December 22, 2023, when Odey was away for work, and he was informed that his first son and daughter had been abducted by unknown individuals in their neighborhood.
Seven-year-old Master Samuel Chisom Odey and five-year-old Miss Divine Chizoba Odey, both students at Obegu Inyimagu Community Primary School, were visiting the home of a pastor friend in the area when they went missing. Odey explained that his children frequently played with the pastor’s children and sometimes visited each other’s homes. Upon his return to Abakaliki the day after the incident, he spoke to the pastor, who told him that his children had disappeared after leaving the pastor’s house.
Odey also noted that a suspicious car had been parked near the area during his children’s visit, and he suspects that the car’s occupants may have been involved in the kidnapping.
Since the abduction, Odey lost his job while searching for his children, but he later secured new employment with another construction company. He has appealed for assistance from all quarters in the hopes of locating his children. In September 2024, Odey received a call from an unknown number, during which he briefly spoke to his daughter. He revealed that he has exhausted his resources in the search for them.
While a brief call from his daughter in September 2024 provided a glimmer of hope, Sunday Odey’s search for his children remains unresolved. He is urgently calling on the Ebonyi State government and the public to assist in bringing them home.
