The Ebonyi State Government has taken action against 29 contractors responsible for ongoing housing projects in the resettlement areas of Izzo and Amaeze Autonomous Communities, located within Ishielu Local Government Area of the State.
These contractors have been blacklisted due to their unsatisfactory performance, effectively preventing them from undertaking any further projects within the state. Jude Chikadibia Okpor, the Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, made this announcement while briefing journalists on the outcomes of the State Executive Council meeting held in Abakaliki.
During the meeting, the council reviewed the performance of various contractors engaged in the construction of housing estates for the resettlement of residents from Izzo and Amaeze Autonomous Communities. As a result of their inadequate performance, the council endorsed the decision to blacklist these 29 contractors and prohibit them from undertaking any future projects within the state.
Additionally, the Commissioner disclosed the government’s efforts towards the resettlement of individuals displaced by the proposed ICT University Site in the Izzi Council Area of the State. The council approved a memorandum addressing the resettlement of families affected by the government’s acquisition of land for the establishment of an Information Communication Technology (ICT) University at Oferekpe Agbaja in Izzi Local Government Area.
Furthermore, the council instructed the Commissioner for Tertiary Education to prepare and present a comprehensive proposal for consideration in subsequent council meetings. This proposal aims to address the resettlement needs of affected families in the ongoing establishment of the ICT University.
