Abakiliki, Ebonyi State – In a resounding declaration aimed at advancing the development and promotion of good governance in Ebonyi State, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Correspondents’ Chapel, has urged opposition parties and Governor Francis Nwifuru to unite. This call was made during the union’s congress on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, and encapsulated in a communiqué signed by Nwafor Samson, the chairman, and Nabob Ogbonna, the secretary, which was subsequently forwarded to DAILY POST on Thursday.
The NUJ expressed admiration for Governor Nwifuru’s commendable decision to establish a youth government by appointing young individuals to crucial political positions. They passionately exhorted these appointees to shoulder their responsibilities with utmost dedication and proficiency.
According to excerpts from the communiqué, “The Chapel commends the Governor for his judicious selection of individuals to assist in driving his administration’s policies and programs, particularly for allocating 80% of appointments to the youth. Recognizing that the Governor has bestowed leadership roles upon the youth by fully integrating them into governance and making them the cornerstone of his administration, it is incumbent upon the youth to avoid disappointment by fulfilling the entrusted tasks.”
Additionally, the union conveyed its heartfelt congratulations to Governor Nwifuru for his triumph in the elections, assuming office as the 4th Executive Governor of Ebonyi State. The NUJ also extended its appreciation to the Governor for appointing Monday Uzor and Boniface Nwankwo, two esteemed journalists, as Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser, Documentation, respectively.
