The Governor of Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has ordered the indefinite suspension of two commissioners in Ebonyi State over alleged dereliction of duty, according to an official government statement released on Saturday.
The affected officials are Engr. Stanley Lebechi Mbam, Commissioner for Works, and Engr. Ogbonnaya Obasi Abara, Commissioner for Infrastructure Development for Concession.
In a public service announcement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Dr. Monday Uzor, the state government confirmed that the suspension takes immediate effect.
The statement explained that the decision was approved by Governor Nwifuru following concerns related to the officials’ performance and discharge of their responsibilities while in office.
Both commissioners have been directed to immediately hand over all government assets in their custody, including official vehicles and other public property, to the Secretary to the State Government pending further directives.
As of the time of reporting, the Ebonyi State Government has not announced interim replacements for the suspended commissioners.
The move is seen as part of the administration’s ongoing efforts to reinforce accountability, efficiency, and improved service delivery within the state’s public service.
