Eight-year-old Nigerian model, Queen Janine Nneoma Obasi, is set to represent Nigeria at the upcoming Mini Miss Africa Pageant scheduled to hold in Nairobi, Kenya, from March 28 to April 4, 2026.
The continental event will bring together young contestants from across Africa to showcase talent, culture, and creativity while promoting cultural exchange among participating countries.
Obasi, who hails from Uburu in Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, currently holds the title of Mini Miss Africa Nigeria. She is also the reigning Miss KAT (Kids Are Talented) London, a platform designed to recognise talented children globally.
Speaking ahead of the competition, the young contestant said she hopes to serve as a positive example for children across the continent while promoting Nigerian and African cultural values.
“I want to inspire children across Africa and promote Nigerian and African culture,” she said.
According to her mother, Obasi developed an interest in modelling at an early age. She explained that the family initially paid little attention to the interest but later encouraged her after observing her growing passion and commitment.
Her modelling journey gained momentum after she participated in the London edition of the Miss KAT competition, which she won through an online contest. The victory provided wider exposure and strengthened her confidence to compete at higher levels.
Following the achievement, Obasi auditioned for the Mini Miss Africa Nigeria contest, where her performance and cultural presentation earned her the national title and qualification for the continental pageant.
Beyond modelling, the young contestant engages in activities such as swimming, dancing, gymnastics, and stage rehearsals as part of her preparation for competitions.
Organisers say the Mini Miss Africa Pageant aims to nurture confidence, leadership skills, and cultural awareness among young African participants.
Obasi is expected to compete alongside other contestants from different African countries for the continental crown when the event begins in Nairobi.
