The Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru, has ordered security agencies to launch a comprehensive investigation into the recent deadly attack on Oso Edda community in Edda Local Government Area of the state.
The governor strongly condemned the incident, which reportedly resulted in the loss of lives and destruction of property, describing it as a barbaric act and a clear violation of the sanctity of human life.
Reacting to the development, Nwifuru expressed deep shock over the attack, warning that such acts of violence would not be tolerated under his administration.
“This senseless act is a direct affront to our resolve to restore and sustain peace across Ebonyi State,” the governor said.
He reaffirmed that the protection of lives and property remains the top priority of his government, assuring residents that all necessary steps would be taken to ensure that those responsible are identified and brought to justice.
Governor Nwifuru disclosed that the state government is working closely with law enforcement and security agencies to track down the perpetrators, while urging residents of the affected community to remain calm and avoid any form of retaliation.
He further directed security operatives to immediately deploy to the area to prevent further attacks and maintain law and order.
The governor also expressed sympathy to families who lost loved ones and property in the incident, assuring them of the government’s support.
“My thoughts and prayers are with the affected families. Be assured that they will not be abandoned,” he added.
The directive was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Monday Uzor, and made available to journalists in Abakaliki.
Governor Nwifuru also called on communities across the state to embrace peace, noting that sustainable development cannot thrive in an environment marked by violence and insecurity.
