Ebonyi PDP Crisis Worsens as 2023 Governorship Candidate Chukwuma Odii Resigns

Chief Chukwuma Ifeanyi Odii, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the 2023 general election in Ebonyi State, has formally resigned from the party.

Odii announced his resignation in a letter dated January 1, 2026, addressed to the PDP Chairman of Amanator Ward, Isuachara, in Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State

In the letter, the former governorship candidate disclosed that his decision to leave the PDP followed extensive consultations with his family and close associates.

He expressed gratitude to the party’s leadership and members for providing him the platform to contest the 2023 governorship election, noting that he remained appreciative of the support and cooperation he received during his time in the party.

“I write to formally notify you that after wide consultations with my family and close associates, I have taken a well-considered decision to resign my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party with immediate effect,” Odii stated.

He added that the opportunity given to him by the party to fly its flag in the 2023 general election was deeply valued, stressing that he remained thankful for the goodwill extended to him throughout his engagement with the PDP.

Odii requested that the letter be accepted as his official notice of resignation, bringing his membership of the opposition party to an end.
