In Ebonyi State, progress is quietly taking root, and one institution stands as living proof: David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences (DUFUHS), Uburu.
During a recent Christmas homage by the University’s management and staff, the Minister of Works, Engr. (Apostle) David Umahi, commended the pioneer Vice Chancellor, Distinguished Professor Jesse Uneke, for his exemplary leadership.
The Minister highlighted Professor Uneke’s “capacity and loyalty” in repositioning DUFUHS as a centre of excellence in medical education, research, and human resource development. For a young federal university, this recognition is significant.
Minister Umahi’s praise goes beyond personal admiration—it reflects a broader narrative of growth in Ebonyi. DUFUHS exemplifies what focused leadership and sustained support can achieve. From its founding, the university has steadily carved out a space in Nigeria’s academic landscape, setting benchmarks for research, teaching, and innovation.
The commendation was more than words. Minister Umahi announced the donation of 5 megawatts of solar energy and other intervention projects to ensure stable power for teaching, learning, and research. Such initiatives demonstrate that progress in Ebonyi is deliberate, not superficial.
In response, Professor Uneke expressed gratitude for the unwavering support since the university’s inception and reaffirmed DUFUHS’ commitment to global standards.
The Christmas homage was more than a festive visit; it was a reminder that growth in Ebonyi is unfolding quietly but purposefully, through institutions like DUFUHS.
As Ebonyi builds its future, the story of DUFUHS serves as a blueprint: strong leadership, sustained investment, and deliberate action can transform vision into tangible progress.
