The Ebonyi State Police Command has successfully arrested a suspected car thief linked to a notorious vehicle theft syndicate and recovered a stolen school bus.
According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Joshua Ukandu (Reference: AZ:5200/EBS/PPRO/VOL.9/19), the suspect, Nwali Chibuike Solomon, was apprehended on May 15, 2025, while attempting to sell the stolen vehicle in Idembia community, located in Ezza South Local Government Area.
Further investigations confirmed that the recovered bus was stolen from a private school in Abuja back in March 2025, where it was originally used as a school transport vehicle. The suspect had unlawfully re-registered the vehicle under his name. Military camouflage uniforms were also seized during the arrest.
The Ebonyi Police Command continues efforts to arrest other members of the three-person car theft gang.
CP Adaku Uche-Anya, Commissioner of Police, urged the public to register their vehicles using the Nigeria Police Force’s Digitized Central Motor Registry (E-CMR) system to enhance vehicle tracking and improve recovery chances in theft cases.
