The Ebonyi State Government has once again expressed its firm commitment to strengthening the educational landscape across the state.
This assurance was delivered by the State Commissioner for Education, Professor Paul Nwobashi, during the 2025 inaugural State Congress of the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), held in Abakaliki.
Professor Nwobashi acknowledged the systemic challenges that have historically affected education nationwide but emphasized that Governor Francis Nwifuru is making significant strides to change the narrative through his People’s Charter of Needs policy. According to him, education remains a top priority for the current administration, with 36 state-of-the-art school projects underway. He also noted that 26 additional storey buildings—each designed to house twelve classrooms—are under construction in different locations to improve public school infrastructure.
The Commissioner further assured secondary school principals of the state government’s readiness to equip them and their institutions with the necessary resources, including vehicles, to improve their efficiency and overall performance.
Earlier at the event, Mr. Christopher Nwoba, an ANCOPSS consultant and Principal of Science School, Igbeagu, voiced concerns over the overlapping administrative roles between junior and senior secondary school principals under the UBEB and SUBEB systems. He urged the state government to evaluate and streamline these operations to ensure smoother governance in the education sector.
Meanwhile, the Ebonyi State ANCOPSS President, Mr. Chukwu Emmanuel Emmanuel Eze, expressed appreciation to Governor Francis Nwifuru and the Ministry of Education, led by Professor Nwobashi, for their support in facilitating a successful and impactful congress.
